A New Year.

Its the year 2012 now. Growing up in the 90's there was always three years I wanted to see, 2000, 2012 and 2020. I saw the first one years ago (twelve years to be exact) and now I'm experiencing 2012!

Why do I want to see these years? 2000 cause of its futuristic implications (you young kids wont understand) and 2020 cause of it being the date in many sci-fi movies and comic books.

And 2012? For two reasons (that merge as one) when I was 13 (1995) I watched a documentary talking about how the end of the world was gonna be on Dec 21 2012 and it showed the ending as a time when machines killed off humans, no not machines like tanks and atomic bombs or terminators, but machines like toasters and refrigerators. Seriously that's how they explained it! People would be killed off by there household appliances! I, of course, being me, thought it was the stupidest and funniest thing ever! and over the next decade would always include in stories I wrote that that's when the world ends.

So although to most 2012 has certain ramifications, to me it is always a remembrance to that silly documentary and a fun reminder of all the stories I wrote and comic books I drew as a kid.

  11. I love the way you look upon 2012 man, I wish I didn't have that it's make or break time attitude that I do. Here's hoping it's a good year for you though buddy, filled with plenty of hilarious reviews and other stuff, you deserve it!

  12. I don't like that 1990 was 22 years ago, I really don't. I'm kind of looking forward to 2020 myself now. I think that they always imagined it would be household appliances that killed us, like the in the Y2K Bug episode of Simpson's Treehouse Of Horror. I wonder if those stories were the inspiration behind that episode.

  15. Oh man, I always thought the machine uprising would be evil sentient robots, not kitchen appliances. Now I see The Brave Little Toaster in a completely different light.

  19. Sadly, the end probably won't be all sexy. Most likely it will be a sudden super nova or some blast of gamma rays.
We won't even know what hit us.

  20. I say that given the number of people that have guessed that the end of the world was coming and given that it has thus far not happened, I feel pretty safe about this one too.

  35. Happy new year! haha just kidding its the fourth. Wow that would be encouraging growing up thinking your going to die in 2012 lol

  36. This one time, I left a hamster on the kitchen counter when I needed to go pee. I came back and started some toast, then looked for the fuzzball.

Long story short, I'm the one who gave the toasters a taste for living blood, and for that, I'm sorry.

  37. There was one boy names Harold Camping who had called "wolf" many times and hence even if I am drowning I am going to blame Mayor and comed and die.

  38. Hmmm... I dunno, man. I think that if the world does end it's going to be in a Grey Goo scenario where nanomachines begin to reproduce themselves and the world is stripped completely of resources and becomes a ball of grey goo composed of an infinite number of microscopic robots.

  41. You know, if I'm going to go this year I hope it is by the hand of (cord of?) my Kitchenaide mixer. There's no other way I'd want to be taken out on 12/21/12.

  42. I'm watching you, toaster. First you tried to burn me this morning when I made Pop Tarts, and now you're going to end the world. Let's see you try it... after I unplug you!

  43. Also my super power would be the ability to see through things. Very productive and would improve everyday life. Well I mean as long as you could control what you see through..
